Meet the most stringent pipeline and commercial specifications with Pro3® NGL

Pro3® NGL

Pro3® NGL is a cutting-edge dry catalyst technology and engineered reactor unit designed for efficient removal of impurities from liquid hydrocarbon streams. This advanced dry catalyst, non-triazine scavenger, surpasses traditional MEA triazine alternatives in both performance and longevity. Pro3® NGL utilizes a non-amine/non-aldehyde chemistry, providing a superior reactive capacity to convert H2S and other mercaptans and thiophenes , among other sulfur compounds. Its highly engineered, patented granular composition ensures a longer run time, making it a cost-effective and reliable choice for hydrocarbon applications.

Benefits throughout

  • Fast Reacting and Highly Effective: Pro3® NGL exhibits a faster reaction rate and greater efficacy than MEA triazine scavengers.
  • Extended Run Time: Enjoy a 3-5x longer run time compared to traditional triazine options, resulting in significant cost savings.
  • Streamlined Disposal: Pro3® NGL generates non-hazardous byproducts that can be safely disposed of in landfills without the need for special permits.
  • Versatile and Comprehensive Impurity Removal: Pro3® NGL efficiently scavenges H2S, mercaptans, including complex long-chained mercaptans.
  • No chemical contamination. There is no chemical residue left in hydrocarbon after treatment.
  • Allows for compliance to copper strip corrosion testing, color and in some cases total sulfur.
  •

Efficiency and Simplicity at its Best

  • Non-Hazardous Chemistry: Pro3® NGL offers a safe and non-hazardous solution for impurity removal without compromising effectiveness.
  • Easy Maintenance: No system mechanicals to monitor or fix, providing hassle-free operation and reduced maintenance costs.
  • Enhanced Performance: Pro3® NGL's solid catalyst system ensures consistent and optimal performance over its lifespan.

Common Mercaptans and Sulfides Found in NGLs

Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) often contain various sulfur compounds, including mercaptans and sulfides, which can negatively impact the quality and performance of liquid hydrocarbon streams. These sulfur compounds can cause issues such as corrosion, foul odors, and reduced product value. To meet stringent pipeline and commercial specifications, it is crucial to effectively remove these impurities from NGLs. Our product, Pro3® NGL, effectively removes:

Methyl Mercaptan
Ethyl Mercaptan
Dimethyl Sulfide
iso-Propyl Mercaptan
tert-Butyl Mercaptan
n-Propyl Mercaptan
Methyl Ethyl Sulfide
s-Butyl Mercaptan
iso-Butyl Mercaptan
Diethyl Sulfide
n-Butyl Mercaptan
tert-Butyl Methyl Sulfide
Dimethyl Disulfide
Diethyl Disulfide
Total Unidentified Sulfur Compounds
Total Organic Sulfur

These sulfur contaminants react or are absorbed in the catalyst, contributing to total sulfur reduction in the NGLs.

Ensure Copper Strip Test Compliance

Pro3® NGL, offers an additional advantage by enabling NGLs to pass copper strip tests with ease. Copper strip tests are essential in determining the presence of corrosive sulfur compounds, and Pro3® NGL’s effective removal of these impurities ensures that the NGLs meet the required specifications for corrosion control and maintain product quality and value.

FAQs

Pro3® NGL is a mixed metal catalyst that reacts the H2S and adsorbs mercaptan speciations resulting in a cleaner, safer, and more economic NGL stream.

When paired with our unique reactor designs (specified by an asset’s daily volume, temperature, and pressures regimes) we route NGL volume through these vessels and maximize the kinetic reactions taking place. As sulfur-based contaminants come in contact with our catalyst, they react or are adsorbed, resulting in a sweetened NGL stream.

Pro3® NGL is commercially suited to eliminate H2S and mercaptans, effectively removing total sulfur in a variety of NGL streams. Operationally it is advantageous as there are no moving parts, NGLs simply move through the reactor. Further, the reactions can take massive swings in H2S/mercaptan or significant changes in hourly volume without a concern for reaction integrity.

Pro3® NGL can provide economic solutions to off-spec NGL lines by removing H2S and mercaptans. NGL streams that meet commercial standards will support a higher net back price per barrel and potentially open markets that were once previously closed. Not to mention eliminating toxic H2S levels making it safer for on-site operators.

Stabilized purity products ranging from ethane, propane, butane, isobutane, and pentane plus.

Yes. And when fully spent, Pro3® NGL is non-toxic, passing TCLP tests. This allows for spent catalyst to be safely disposed of in landfills without special permits.

NGL, LPG, and LNG are simply different forms of natural gas.

NGLs, or natural gas liquids, are components of natural gas that are separated from a gaseous state and through fractionation processes are stabilized into a liquid form at normal temperatures and pressures. These include propane, butane, ethane, and pentane among others. NGLs have a wide range of end products including petrochemical feedstocks, and a variety of different fuels.

LPG, or liquified petroleum gas, is a mixture of propane and butane that is in a liquid state at normal atmospheric pressure. LPG is primarily used for heating and cooking in homes and for some industrial processes.

LNG, or liquified natural gas, is natural gas that has been chilled to a liquid form at a very low temperature, typically around -160°C range. This process reduces the volume of the gas, making it easier to transport and store. LNG can be used for residential heating and cooking as well as large scale industrial electricity generation and fuels.
