CASE STUDY 1300 | NATURAL GAS | Pro3® GT+

A DIRECT SUBSTITUTE FOR TRIAZINE WITH SEAMLESS INFRASTRUCTURE INTEGRATION.

Q2 Technologies, formerly a subsidiary of Quaker Chemical and a pioneer in developing MEA-Triazine scavengers used globally, has introduced Pro3® GT and Pro3® GT+. This innovative suite of products, a non-triazine solution, is designed for applications dealing with variable flow rates or higher inlet levels of H2S.

Pro3® GT+ surpasses traditional triazine scenarios with its faster reactions and increased capacity. It avoids scale formation or buildup common with overspent or overdosed triazine. The product can be seamlessly integrated through continuous injection, contact tower, and/or flooded systems, making it an easy substitute into existing infrastructure.

BACKGROUND
A large publicly held operator recently collaborated with Q2 Technologies to address sour gas issues on a newly completed multi-well pad in the Permian Basin. The sour gas was registering 1,000-1,500 ppm. To treat this gas the producer initially implemented a 40% MEA triazine treatment system.
CHALLENGES
SOLUTION

Considering the high H2S concentrations (1,000-1,500 ppm) in the wells, Q2 Technologies recommended the adoption of the more concentrated and more effective Pro3® GT+

Pro3® GT+ was chosen to replace triazine directly due to its ability to seamlessly integrate with the current infrastructure.
RESULTS

Successfully met pipeline specifications with H2S levels reduced to 4 ppm.

45% less volume of product used compared to triazine.

$10,000 less per day, resulting in an annual expenditure reduction of $3.8 million.

Immediate and substantial savings, ESG benefits, and production uplift upon switching to Pro3® GT+.

Utilization of existing infrastructure without additional capital expenditure

Result:
  • Natural Gas was sweetened to less than 4 ppm, achieving pipeline spec
  • Run time of 99 days which is 3-5x longer performance than competitors.
  • Safely removed 430 pounds of sulfur components per day.
